What it is

FluMist is a live flu vaccine sprayed into the nose. It protects against the flu strains in this season’s vaccine. It does not treat flu you already have, and it does not cover every flu virus.

Who it is for

Ages 2 to 49.

It is not for children under 2, adults 50 and above, or anyone who is pregnant.

It is also not for people with a severely weakened immune system, or for children with asthma or wheezing.

Tell us if someone at home has a very weak immune system.

If FluMist is not suitable, we can use the injected flu vaccine.

How it is given

One short spray in each nostril. The visit is brief.

You can go back to normal activity afterwards.

A runny nose or sore throat for a day or two is common.

$80 per dose  (inclusive of GST)

There is no separate consultation charge for this vaccination visit.

There are no available subsidies for this vaccine type.
